The Ilyushin DB-3 ( Дальний бомбардировщик - Long-range Bomber) is a Soviet bomber designed by Sergey Ilyushin. It originated in a failed competitor to the Tupolev SB, which Ilyushin redesigned as a long-range bomber that entered production in 1936. The DB-3 was redesigned again in 1938 into the DB-3F, which would be renamed the Il-4 in 1942.
